Moloka’i Excursion, June 9-11 UPDATED

Aloha Parents,

Molokai Excursion
Our excursion to Moloka‘i runs from Sunday, June 9 to Tuesday, June 11.  Please drop off you keiki’s ‘ukana (limited to one bag) at the Hale by noon on Thursday, June 6.  We recommend packing ‘ukana in three 3M trash bags to keep it watertight or purchasing a dry bag from Tri Paddle or Sports Authority.  Please be sure to properly label all of your keiki’s ‘ukana.

Moloka‘i Itinerary
Sunday, June 9, 2013
5:00am or 7:00am- Parents drop off HANAKA’O’O BEACH IN LAHAINA (13 & unders leave at 5am, 14 & up at 7am)
8:00am- Depart Maui in three canoes and the Pualele for Puko‘o, Moloka‘i
10:00am- Arrive at Puko‘o, Moloka‘i and have lunch
12:00pm- Work in nearby fishpond
6:00pm- Dinner and activities at Puko‘o

Monday June 10, 2013
6:30am- Wake up
8:00am- Huaka‘i to Halawa Valley. Hike into valley and work in kalo patches
6:00pm- Dinner and activities at Puko‘o
NO KAMALI‘I PROGRAM. There is practice for those not on the excursion

Tuesday, June 11, 2013
6:30am- Wake up
8:00am- Depart Puko‘o, Moloka‘i for Hanaka‘o‘o Beach, Maui
11:00pm- Bus pick at Hanaka‘o‘o, Maui
1:00pm- Arrive back to Hale
NO KAMALI‘I PROGRAM.  Keiki can hang out until practice or be picked up.
2:45pm- 13 & under crews practice
4:00pm- Teenager Division practice (14 boys/girls & up)

‘Ukana List (packing list)
•    Gloves
•    Sleeping bag
•    Swim suit & towel
•    Tabis or reef walkers (for work in fishpond)
•    Hiking shoes
•    Slippers
•    Hat & sunscreen
•    2 sets of extra clothes + sleeping clothes (one set of warm clothes also recommended)
•    Flashlight, toiletries & medications
•    Extra trash bags
•    Windbreaker or poncho (rain expected)
•    Tent (Please share with other keiki.  Tent allowed to be packed in an extra bag.)

The cost of the trip is $50.00 pay Ka‘uhane, Michelle, Mary, or Kaimana ASAP.  Cash, check, & credit card accepted
